Verlander struggles early; Bauer to get third start Monday

By Sheldon Ocker Published: May 11, 2013

DETROIT: Justin Verlander might be one of baseball's best pitchers, but to the Indians, he just another guy.

Verlander never has had much luck against the Tribe, having compiled a caerer record of 14-13 with a 4.55 ERA.

Tonight, he threw 35 pitchers in the first inning and walked three as the Tribe took a 2-0 lead and added another run in the second on Asdrubal Cabrera's RBI double.

By the time the second inning was over, Verlander had thrown 62 pitches.

Trevor Bauer will be summoned from Columbus to make his third start of the season in the second game of Monday's makeup doubleheader against the Yankees. Justin Masterson will start Game 1.
