Westbrook traded in three-team deal; prospect in deal to join Aeros

Less than 24 hours after trading OF Austin Kearns to the New York Yankees, the Tribe brass shipped today's scheduled starter - RHP Jake Westbrook - to the San Diego Padres, who in turn sent Westbrook to the St. Louis Cardinals.

What the rebuilding Indians got out of the swap is minor-league RHP Corey Klubber from the Padres. The 24-year old Double-A pitcher was 6-6 with a 3.45 ERA at San Antonio in 22 games (21 starts).

The reigning Texas League Player of the Week, Klubber leads the league in strikeouts (136), strikeouts per nine innings (9.98K/9.0IP) and is second in innings pitched (122 2/3).

The Padres selected the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder in the 4th round of the 2007 draft out of Florida's Stetson University (FL). He is expected to report to Akron in the next few days.
