Activist group plans water testing in Portage County
Concerned Citizens Ohio/Shalersville will test well water for free on Sunday, Dec. 2.
The tests will be offered starting at 3:15 p.m. at the King of Glory Church at Streetsboro Plaza at the corner of state Route 303 and state Route 14.
The test is not EPA-certified and is designed to give residents baseline test results that would enable well owners to detect a spike from nearby natural gas drilling.
Homeowners with wells are invited to bring their water.
Water should be drawn before treatment (water softener, heater) closest to the well. Bring at least two cups of water in a clean glass container with a clean lid. Allow water to run at least 3 minutes before collecting the sample.
