Antero Resources Corp. has completed 27 horizontal wells in the Utica shale. including some of the most-productive wells in Ohio.
Those wells produced 79 million cubic feet of gas equivalents per day in the first quarter 2014, the company said on Thursday in an earnings call with analysts.
That production total included 5,200 barrels per day of oil and other liquids, the Colorado-based firm said.
It completed 12 Utica wells in the quarter and has another 20 Utica wells in the works.
The company is projecting that production will grow by 50 percent and will hit 120 million cubic feet of gas equivalents in the second quarter 2014, said CEO Paul Rady.
The company has leased 139,000 acres in southeast Ohio and northern West Virginia. It has five rigs working.
It expects to drill its first natural gas-only well this year in West Virginia’s Tyler County.
