Antero Resources reports 'encouraging' Utica results

By Bob Downing Published: August 13, 2012

Colorado-based Antero Resources reports "encouraging" results from its two completed horizontal wells in Ohio's Utica shale.

The wells are in Noble and Monroe counties. The two wells are temporarily shut down until pipelines and processing facilities are completed.

A third well is being drilled in Noble County.

The results from those wells will be discussed later, the company said today in a discussion of second quarter 2012 earnings.

The company has a net lease of 56,000 acres in Ohio.

It has 10 rigs in northern West Virginia in the Marcellus shale and two more rigs will be added soon.

The company has completed 88 horizontal wells in the Marcellus shale and 19 more wells are awaiting completion.

The average lateral is about 6,550 feet.
