An Ohio Environmental Protection Agency air permit for a natural gas-processing plant in Mahoning County has been appealed to a state review board.
The air permit for Pennant Midstream's Hickory Bend plant in Mahoning County's Springfield Township was approved by the Ohio EPA on June 6.
That decision has been appealed by Mahoning County activist Patti Gorcgeff, who is unhappy with the project, to the Ohio Environmental Review Appeals Commission.
The plant would handle up to 200 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The $300 million plant has been proposed by NiSource Midstream Service and Hilcorp Energy Co. to handle natural gas from joint wells in Mahoning and Columbiana counties and nearby areas in Pennsylvania.
