A 31-year-old Athens County woman was arrested this morning for trespassing at an injection well.
Arrested was Madeline ffitch of Millfield, according to the Columbus Dispatch and EcoWatch.
According to Frack Free Ohio, ffitch was outraged at the impact fracking wastewater is having on her community.
She blocked the gates to an injection well on Ladd Ridge Road, west of Athens. As part of her civil disobedience, ffitch locked herself to two 50-gallon cement-filled drums at the entrance to the site.
She said she wants the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to test fracking wastewater and to keep out-of-state fracking wastewater from being brought to Ohio.
Nearly 148 million gallons of fracking wastewater were injected in Ohio wells last year, half of that coming from other states.
Ohio cannot block such shipments from other states under federal law.
