BP Plc is seeking permits to ship 20,000 barrels per day of Bakken crude oil to a refinery in the state of Washington.
London-based BP wants to run a 100-car car train to the Cherry Point Refinery near Blaine every other day.
The refinery, the largest in Washington, now handles about 234,000 barrels per day.
Other companies are already shipping Bakken oil from North Dakota and Montana by reail to refineries on the East Coast and West Coast becauise of the lack of pipelines.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
