Canton Mayor William T. Healy II last night declared Canton to be the "Utica Capital."
The mayor made his announcement during his fifth annual State of the City speech.
He also unveiled a new blue-and-gray logo that a local advertising agency designed for the city at no cost.
Canton will still be known for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, in addition to Utica shale, Healy said.
Chesapeake Energy Corp. has offices in two locations in downtown Canton and is drilling for natural gas in Stark and nearby Carroll counties.
