Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday that Chesapeake Energy could get more money than had been expected for its Permian Basin natural gas/oil field in West Texas.
Chesapeake had estimated the value of its Permian Basin holdings at $5 billion, but it could be worth as much as $6.82, the news service reported.
Chesapeake owns mineral rights on 1.5 million acres in the basin.
The proposed asset sale would help Chesapeake reduce its debt.
