The Youngstown Vindicator on Saturday reported that Chesapeake Energy Corp. has joined a lawsuit against Columbiana County landowners who are refusing to permit seismic testing on their land.
The suit was initially filed by TSG NOPEC Geophysical Co. of Houston, which was to do the testing for Chesapeake under leases signed by the landowners.
The suit came after landowners refused to allow access.
Columbiana County Common Pleas Judge C. Ashley Pike ruled in April that Chesapeake was the affected party and needed to be part of the suit.
All but two landowners from Beloit have settled and agreed to allow the tests.
The case is pending.
