Corps: No major impact with EQT lines at Crooked Creek Lake

By Bob Downing Published: December 23, 2013

From the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers:

The Pittsburgh District, US Army Corps of Engineers has released the draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) document related to the EQT Gathering, LLC, Pipeline Project in the vicinity of Crooked Creek Lake, Armstrong County. The undertaking entails the installation of a 12-inch diameter buried natural gas pipeline within the Crooked Creek Lake management area labeled - tracts L-27 and L-28.
The pipeline is approximately 8.1 miles long with a 2,337-foot-long by 75-foot-wide section (0.4 miles) crossing federal lands. The proposed crossing is located beneath the surface of the Crooked Creek crossing, running perpendicular to Cochrans Mills Road (S.R. 2028) in the vicinity of Ford City. Upon completion of the proposed project, the gathering line will serve to transport natural gas that is extracted within the region.

To comply with the National Environmental Policy Act the Army Corps of Engineers prepared an environmental assessment for this project and concluded that the action had no significant adverse impacts to natural and cultural resources.

The draft FONSI will be available for a 30-day review period beginning Dec. 23 at the Ford City Public Library, 1136 4th Ave., Ford City, Pa. 16226. The library reference desk can be reached at (724) 763-3591.

The draft FONSI will also be available online at
