Forbes magazine on June 1 suggested that Exxon Mobil or Chevron might consider purchasing cash-strapped Chesapeake Energy Corp.
Analysts are expecting that oil majors may consider bidding for the company, which is the No. 2 natural gas producer in the United States, and sits on some of the most lucrative onsgore reserves in shale plays across the country, the magazine said.
Chesapeake has lost 30 percent of its market value since Jan. 1 and the price of natural gas is at a 10-year low.
