Devon Energy Corp. has plugged a third diappointing well in Ohio's Utica shale.
The company's well at Utica in Knox County has been abandoned, the Oklahoma-based energy company told the Mt. Vernon News.
Earlier the company had plugged wells in Medina and Ashland counties for poor results.
It had staked out claims in the western part of Ohio Utica's shale that had been projected for significant oil reserves, but the results have been disappointing, Devon Energy said.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
