District approves water sale at Seneca Lake to Antero Resources

By Bob Downing Published: October 21, 2013

The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District on Friday approved a third short-term water sale from Seneca Lake in southeast Ohio with Antero Resources.

The Colorado-based company will pay $4.25 per thousand gallons from November through January.

There is a daily maximum limit of 2 million gallons.

The price was negotiated between the agency and Antero Resources.

The sale comes at a time when the reservoir in Noble and Guernsey counties will be lowered for the winter.

The sale has come under fire from a grass-roots group. The district has also been sued because of the water sales and its land leasing fwith drillers.

Antero Resources is relying on multiple water sources in southeastern Ohio.
