On Wedneday, Encana Corp. said its internal investigation has determined it did not collude with the Chesapeake Energy Corp. to keep land acquisition costs low in Michigan two years ago.
The investigation was launched June 26 byits board with assistance from two outside law firms, saidEncana, Canada's alargest natural gas producer.
"We can't offer more detail than what we've released as the issue is still under investigation by the Antitrust Division of the (U.S.) Department of Justice and the Michigan Attorney General," company spokesman Jay Averil told Reuters/MSN Money.
The company said it has gotten a federal subpoena and a state civil investigation demand and intends to cooperate with both agencies.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
