From the Ohio Environmental Council:
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will soon begin drafting rules that will implement SB 315, the governor’s energy legislation.
These rules are essential to protecting Ohio's air, land, and water from the environmental impacts of shale gas development.
These rules may touch on well pad construction, spill prevention and containment, floodplains and source water protection, temporary storage pits, and impoundments, among other things.
The OEC has formed a coalition of state and national organizations including the Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, and the People’s Oil and Gas Collaborative to put forward recommendations for strengthening these upcoming oil and gas rules.
Stay tuned for opportunities for public comment on ODNR’s proposed rules.
