Oklahoma-based Gulfport Energy reported on Monday that it has drilled three Utica shale wells in eastern Ohio andwork is progressing on its fourth and fifth horiziontal wells.
The first well in Harrison Couny has been successfully fracked in 28 stages and the drilling reported 123 feet of vertical thickness in the Point Pleasant Interval, the company said.
It said the well is in a 60-day resting period prior to testing and flowing the well.
A well on a Boy Scout camp in Harrison County is under going fracking, the company said.
It was drilled to a depth of 7,704 and a horizontal leg is 7,974 feet long. It encountered an average rock thickness of 126 feet.
The third well, in Guernsey County, was drilled to a depth of 7,327 feet with a horizontal leg of 5,414 feet. It is waiting completion, the company said.
Gulfport has two rigs operating in Ohio.
