Hagan cites Lupo's record in letter to Ohio commission

By Bob Downing Published: June 21, 2013

From State Rep. Robert F. Hagan, D-Youngstown, today:

State Representative Robert F. Hagan, acting on behalf of his constituents, recently sent a letter to the Oil and Gas Commission highlighting Mr. Lupo’s past environmental violations and urging the commission members to keep in mind the health of the Valley’s residents when considering an appeal lodged by D&L Energy.

The company formerly fronted by Mr. Lupo is attempting to get its operating permits back after having them revoked by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in February. The permits were revoked after EPA investigatorssay they witnessed brine and oilfield waste being illegally discharged into a sewer drain on D & L's Salt Springs Road property.

“Mr. Lupo has a lengthy and well documented track record of disregard for the environment,” Rep. Hagan said. “Obviously, this is an important matter not just to me, but also to my constituents-- many of whom were alarmed at the prospect of Mr. Lupo being able to return to business. It is my responsibility as State Representative to communicate their concerns to the commission.”

Mr. Lupo’s counsel reacted with a strongly worded letter to Rep. Hagan.
