The head of Texas-based Halcon Resources is not impressed by the first wells his company has drilled in northern Trumbull County in Northeast Ohio.
Said Floyd C. Wilson, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, during a third quarter 2013 earnings and production call on Tuesday with analysts and the media: "Well, we won't drill any more wells near the (expletive) ones we've drilled already, that's one initiative."
Wilson said his company intends to focus instead in southern Trumbull County where it has leased acreage.
He added, "We are of course more cautious than we were and we were cautious before, but we had a lot of drilling results from these wildcat wells and our focus will be on the south end of the play at this time."
Wilson also reported that Halcon Resources used its first slick water frack and was pleased with the results.
It intends to use that process moving forward, he said.
