The Herald-Star reports that Hess Energy will open its Steubenville field office next week.
The opening will reportedly be a low-key affair.
The New York-based energy company has spenjt $1.2 billion in Ohio's Utica shale: $770 million to acquire Marquette Exploration and $500 million on a joint venture with CONSOL.
Hess Energy is focusing on Guernsey, Belmont, Jefferson and Harrison counties in eastern Ohio. It has about 75,647 acres leased.
It has three drilling rigs working in the Utica shale and expects to have 10 wells completed by Dec. 31.
