No permits for Utica shale horizontal wells have been filed in Ohio's Richland County, but there appears to be a leasing flurry in the northern part of the county, reports the Mansfield News Journal.
The paper said landowners are getting leasing bonuses of $4,500 to $6,000 an acre.
Richland County lies at the western edge of the Utica shale, and Devo Energy has capped disappointing wells in other nearby western-edge counties.
