Leasing rush continues in Stark, other counties
In the greater Akron area, Stark County ranked first in shale-related drilling leases in 2011.
The county had 4,563 natural gas-oil drilling leases filed. That's up from 1,113 in 2010.
The communities with the most leases are:

In addition, there were 104 leases in Alliance, 117 in Massillon, 12 in Canton and 36 in the village of Brewster.
Leases also increased in 2011 in Portage, Medina and Wayne counties.
