A new survey in Ohio and five other states shows that 54 percent of those surveyed believe that the conservation of natural habitats and water resources should get a higher priority over drilling.
In addition, 42 percent of those surveyed by The Nature Conservancy indicated that shale job creation should also get a higher priority.
The survey covered siux states in the Marcellus and Utica shales.
