Ohio activists plan weekend action camp Nov. 16-18

Appalachia Resist, a grass-roots group in southeast Ohio, is planning a weekend action camp on Nov. 16-18 in Athens County.

The weekend will begin with a panel discussion at 7 p.m. at Arts West on State Street in Athens.

Speakers include Nathan Johnson of the Buckeye Forest Council, Tersea Mills of the Center for Health, Environment and Justice and Roxanne Groff, a former county commissioner.

Workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 17-18 at ACRE, the old Amesville Elementary School.

Topics include community organizing, frack equipment watchdogging, media activism and strategic direct action.

Lunch and dinner will be provided.

Donations are encouraged.
