The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has approved 1,230 Utica shale permits, as of April 26.
That includes 838 Utica wells that have been drilled, of which 392 are in production.
At present, 39 rigs are drilling in Ohio.
A total of 13 new permits were issued: two in Belmont County, one in Carroll County, six in Guernsey County and four in Monroe County.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
