Ohio has approved 812 Utica shale permits, through July 20.
That includes 390 wells that have been completed and 117 wells that are in production, says the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The number of rigs drilling in Ohio has increased to 36.
A total of 24 new permits were approved: seven in Carroll County, nine in Gurnsey County, three in Harrison County and five in Mahoning County.
The 24 new permits went to Cheaspeake Energy, Gulfport Energy and Hilcorp Energy.
