The Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management has issued 443 Utita shale drilling permits.
That total is through Nov. 10.
Of that total, 186 wells have been drilled, the state reported.
A total of 26 rigs are working in Ohio.
The six new permits were: two in Carroll County, one in Noble and three in Tusacarawas.
Carroll County remains No. 1 in Ohio with 154 permits.
Other totals are: Columbiana, 64; Harrison, 55; Jefferson, 31; Guernsey, 24; Monroe, 20; Mahoning, 15; Portage, 14;, Stark, 13; Tuscarawas, 12; and Belmont, 10.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
