By Bob Downing Published: October 22, 2013

NiSource Midstream Services and Hilcorp Energy Co. are building a natural gas processing plant in Mahoning County as part of a joint venture called Pennant Midstream.

The Hickory Bend Processing Plant will be dedicated on Oct. 28, although it won’t actually be up and running until sometime in December, the Salem News reported today.

The $375 million Hickory Bend project includes not only the cryogenic processing plant  it also includes some 55 miles of wet-gas gathering pipelines.

The inital capacity will be about 400 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

The total price could top $1 billion with planned plant expansions.

The entire Hickry Bend project is scheduled to be completed in June 2014.
