The Ohio Utica Shale blog is a winner.
It was named the No. 1 newsblog in the state of Ohio in 2012.
The award came from the Society of Professional Journalists and its chapters in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati.
The blog will get its award on Oct. 5 at ceremonies in Columbus.
The blog is written by Bob Downing and Jim Mackinnon, Akron Beacon Journal reporters.
In 2012, the blog posted 1,446 news items about Utica shale drilling in Ohio and surrounding states.
We have added just under 1,700 posts this year.
The blog started in December 2011.
Second place went to The Beer Blog, produced by Akron Beacon Journal reporter Rick Armon.
