Ohio Utica Shale

Ohio Utica shale tidbits

By Bob Downing Published: June 14, 2012

Here are two items from the Ohio Energy Resource Alliance:

1. A truck-washing firm in Zanesville is benefitting from the Utica shale boom in eastern Ohio.

Jordan Services is power washing tanks used in the hydraulic fracturing or fracking process.

The company has had four employees for years. It is now up to 15 workers and owner Darin Jordan plans to hire another 10 in the next month.

The comapny has added one new truck and has two more on order, reports the Coshocton Tribune.

2. Jefferson County's Oil and Gas Committee is getting nearly $50,000 in state grant money to develop Project Unite, a web-based communication systems.

Project Unite is designed to allow government leaders, school officials, industry and private citizens to share information and concerns about drilling in Ohio's Utica shale.

The funding is from the state's Local Government Innovation Fund.

The grant must still be approved by the Ohio State Controlling Board.

The application had been endorsed by dozens of local groups.
