After seeing incredible growth in rural Pennsylvania banks as a result of the Marcellus shale boom, Philadelphia-based investment banking firm Boenning & Scattergood Inc. established a spinoff operation to capitalize on what it says is a similar situation happening in Ohio's Utica shale, Columbus Business First reports.
Shale Community BanFund LP, which was launched in May with $10 million in capital, intends to use the money for eastern Ohio banks that are in need of capital "both to meet lending demand and to offset big deposit increases and satisfy regulatory capital requirements," the article said.
