Protestors picket gas-drilling conference outside Cleveland

By Bob Downing Published: February 5, 2013

Anti-fracking activists today protested outside a shale gas drilling conference  organized by Crain's Cleveland Business and WCPN/WVIZ Ideastream outside Cleveland in suburban Mayfield Heights.

The protestors deployed a banner today reading “Protect the Economy, Stop Fracking." The banner was hung off a veggie oil-powered bus, which was parked in front of the entrance to the summit. Protestors held banners saying “Ban Fracking Now,” and “We the people ban fracking.”

They complied with an order by police to leave the property.

The protestors said they were unhappy with the public television stations' involvement in the conference.

The conference was designed to look at the economic impacts of shale gas development in eastern Ohio.
