Production in the third quarter averaged 790 Mm cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Marcellus shale and the Mississippian oil plays, Range Resources Corp. reported in its third-quarter financial report.
That, the company said, is a 47 percent increase over the prior-year quarter and 10 percent greater than the second quaqrter 2012..
Production was 79 percent natural gas, Range Resources said.In addition, 15 percent was natural-gas liquids and 6 percent was oil, it said.
Year over year, natural gas production is up 52 percent, natural-gas liquids are up 30 percent and oil production is up 36 percent, it said.
The firm, the first to drill in the Marcellus shale in Pennsylvania, is based in Fort Worth, Texas.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
