Utah-based Savage Services is taking over rail operations at the Ohio Commerce Park at Lordstown.
The company intends to move bulk materials by rail to drillers in the Utica shale. Later oil could be hauled away by the rail line.
The company has operations at 170 locations and employs about 2,700.
The 516-acre Lordstown site includes 10 miles of rail lines and a new 12,000-foot loop that will allow the company to assemble trains of 60 to 110 cars without impacting the main line.
