Aubrey McClendon is eying Utica shale development in Carroll and Columbiana counties in eastern Ohio.
McClendon, ousted last spring as CEO of Cheaspeake Energy Corp., the nation's No. 2 natural gas producer, has new Utica plans.
His company, American Energy Partners, has teamed up with a Texas firm, Orange Energy Consultants, to form Great River Energy.
That firm is seeking leases in southern Columbiana County and also in Carroll County, the East Liverpool Review reported on Sunday.
A similar partnership surfaced last week in Harrison and Guernsey counties between McClendon's firms and Red Hill Development, based outside of Dover in Tuscarawas County.
