Ten new Utica shale horizontal wells have been approved by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
That includes two new wells in Carroll County, three in Harrison County, one in Holmes County, two in Monroe County, one in Noble County and one in Trumbull County.
That covers permits issued from Oct. 28 through Nov. 3.
To date, 436 wells have been permitted. Of that total, 177 wells have been drilled and 36 wells are in production.
Carroll County remains the No. 1 county for permitted wells with 151. Columbiana County has 58 permit and Harrison County has 54 permits.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
