Tracker Lario Utica LLC doesn't have any wells yet in Ohio's Utica shale.
But it is adding to its 25,000 acres in eastern Portage and southwest Trumbull counties.
The company is a partenrship between Kansas-based Lario Oil and Gas Co. and Denver-based Tracker Resource Development LLC.
Both companies have extensive lease holdings from Texas to North Dakota.
Tracker Larion Utica acquired leased land from Chesapeake Energy Corp. and from EnerVest in late 2012.
Most of its acerage is in Paris and Palmyra townships in Portage County and Newton and Lordstown townships in Trumbull County.
Chesapeake Energy Corp,the Oklahoma-based firm is the No. 1 driller in Ohio.
