Two Chesapeake directors resign, pipeline sales finalized

Chesapeake Energy Corp. shareholders today rejected the re-election of two directors involved in the internal probe of CEO Aubrey McClendon's personal finances, Bloomberg News reported..

The two directors got less than 30 percent of the votes cast in the annual meeting in Oklahoma City and resigned.

The Chesapeake board does not have to accept their resignations that will be reviewed "in due course," the energy company said.

Earlier in the day, Chesapeake announced that is has sold its pipeline assets in three cash transactions that will produce $4 billion for the cash-strapped company.

Chesapeake is the No. 1 player in Ohio's Utica shale.
