Anti-frackers will assemble on Friday, Dec. 28, in Youngstown to rally behind the new Matt Damon-John Krasinski movie, Promised Land.
The rally will begin at 12:30 p.m. near the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St. at Elm and Illinois streets. A march will follow.
The keynote speaker is Douglas Shields, former Pittsburgh city council president who is featured in the anti-fracking film The Sky Is Pink.
The Damon movie opens in select cities on Dec. 28 and nationwide on Jan. 4.
It is about a landman who comes to a town to arrange leases for natural gas drilling.
The Youngstown rally behind Promised Land is being organized by FrackFree America.
The movie will not be shown as part of the event.
