The Plain Dealer has the rundown on NE Ohio districts on the ballot Nov. 2. The story includes some bullet point items that are affecting school finances throughout the state:
• The state tax on business inventory and fixtures is being phased out. That will cost Parma $6 million a year.
• Districts must find the money for new state mandates that don't come with state funding; full-day kindergarten, for example, will cost Parma $1.2 million a year.
• No one knows who the next governor will be or how he will manage to plug an $8 billion hole in the state budget when federal stimulus money runs out.
