BATH TWP.: The Revere Local School District will offer a pilot, all-day, tuition-based kindergarten program starting next school year.
The program will be offered in addition to the current half-day, no-cost kindergarten.
School officials have not yet determined the tuition cost.
A survey of comparable districts with similar programs showed a tuition range of $2,800 to $4,500.
Plans call for three full-day kindergarten sections to be offered with a lottery, if needed, to decide how the 66 spots would be filled. Parents preferring the all-day option will be asked to complete an application with a deposit during the March kindergarten registration. The applications will be handled on an equal basis, according to school officials, with no preference given to the date or time of application.
Applicants for all-day kindergarten will be notified of their status before April 1. Those not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list and their deposits returned.
The annual “Curious About Kindergarten” program will be at 5:30 p.m. March 22 at Hillcrest Elementary School, 3820 N. Revere Road. Kindergarten registration will follow that program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. as well as on March 23 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Details of the plan will be finalized in mid-February and discussed at the Feb. 21 board of education meeting in the Revere High School Library.
