StateImpact Ohio (NPR with local public radio stations) has been doing some good work tracking White Hat Management's applications to operate charter schools that would be sponsored by the state. See Molly Bloom's post here. So far she's found these interesting nuggets in the applications:
- The company says it takes about $1.2 million dollars and 20 weeks to turn a leased building into a K-8 school.
- The company would like to have the ability to appoint and remove school board members ''at any time…for any reason or no reason.'' The Department of Education is discussing that with the company.
- Any items that White Hat purchases for the schools will belong to White Hat.
