    First Bell - On Education

    Really tough night for new money

    Of the dozen districts seeking new money for operations in our area, all but three failed Tuesday night. Every request for new money in Summit County failed.

    North Canton, Streetsboro and Southeast (Wayne County) passed new operating levies.

    Bond issues in Dalton and Chippewa for new school construction both were defeated.

    How tough a night was it? Sandy Valley in Stark County (with overlaps in Tuscarawas and Carroll counties)  tried to renew a 2-mill permanent improvement levy and it failed by 64 votes.
