Blaze Fast Fire'd Pizza, partly owned by LeBron James, is gaining more traction in Northeast Ohio.
The city of Strongsville said earlier today on its Facebook page that the eatery -- which features food being made-to-order, ala Chlpotle, is coming to Strongsville.
Blaze -- among so called "fast casual" food joints -- revealed last year that it will open at 5125 Dressler Road NW in the Belden Village area of Jackson Township. This location will open in late March or early April, according to a report in the Canton Repository last month.
It will be the first Blaze location in Northeast Ohio.
A third NEO Blaze is planned for Mentor, in Lake County.
James was a founding investor in the Pasadena, Calif., chain, which began in 2011.
In 2015, the NBA star made headlines when he decided not to renew his big endorsement deal with McDonald’s to promote Blaze. Yeah, I guess James makes headlines when he does anything.
(The picture above is a frame grab from a Blaze commercial in which James works as an employee named "Don" at a Blaze pizza shop.)
Blaze opened 68 new sites last year, and now has more than 170 locations in the United States, according to Yahoo! Finance.
Meanwhile, Pizza Fire, the fast-bake pizza chain headquartered in Medina County, is working hard to get stores established in Ohio before Blaze and other new pizza chains make too much headway.
Pizza Fire, which features pies baked in an 800-degree oven, was founded by Sean Brauser, who also started the Romeo's Pizza chain. The Blaze pizzas are done Neopolitan style, with a thin crust with fresh ingredients.
Here's the post about Blaze from the Strongsville Facebook page: (And can I just add here; this is one informative post! Kudos to whoever is doing the posting for city of Strongsville!)
"Another quick-bake pizza restaurant is planning to open in Strongsville. Blaze Pizza (it's the one co-owned by LeBron James) is expected to open in the Commons at SouthPark, next to CoreLife Eatery. It will be the third fast-cook pizza restaurant here, joining Pizza Fire, which opened last year on Pearl Road, and 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza, which has been approved to open in the Plaza at SouthPark, next to Rosewood Grill.
Master Pizza, a more traditional pizza shop, also opened last year in Westwood Commons on Pearl Road."
