Polish club in Akron will celebrate Mardi Gras with, well, Polish eats

By Katie Byard Published: February 15, 2017

Some Polish folks in Akron will tell you Mardi Gras food is not all about shrimp and grits and gumbo and other Creole/Cajun eats.

The Polish American Citizens Club will host its annual Mardi Gras dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 26 at the club at 472 E. Glenwood Ave., at the corner of Dan Street in Akron.

Dinner includes Polish sausage, sauerkraut, homemade pierogi and paczki, similar to a doughnut. The evening will include music and polish dancing.

That's a picture of paczki above from the Chicago Tribune.

The event is on a Sunday this year, a change from previous years.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 5 to 11. To buy tickets or for information, call the club at 330-253-0496 or Ed at 330-825-7607.

The dinner raises money for the building fund. Tickets also will be available at the door.
