National reporting standards

The United States Fire Administration, established in 1974 and now under FEMA, makes some points relavant to this project in its strategic plan. On page 6, it's fifth "function" is "Implement and manage FEMA/DHS control systems within USFA, for example, those to control funds and property, designed to uncover waste, fraud, and abuse; manage forms; collect information; and manage records and directives."

Page 16 provides information about moves to upgrade fire reporting, the subject of a story tentatively planned for Sunday.
