"American Idol" Results

By admin Published: March 11, 2010

Heading to the top 12. Running a little late but will blog as I watch after the jump.

Top 12 Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Lacey Brown, Lee Dewyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, Paige Miles, Katie Stevens and Tim Urban.
Out: Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, Alex Lambert and -- in the night's biggest surprise -- Lilly Scott. I wasn't a big fan but would have kept her over Katie Stevens, whom she was paired with for the final spot.

Below is the order in which they were announced by the show.

Didi Benami is first summoned by Ryan. Safe.

Siobhan Magnus. safe.

Paige Miles and Katelyn Epperly. Paige is safe, Katelyn's done.

Now guys:

Tim Urban, Todrick Hall, Lee Dewyze and Casey James are summoned together.

Casey is safe.

Tim is safe. Thought Todrick might be in trouble when he was in this four. Definitely appears to be now.

Yup, Lee safe, Todrick done.

Scott and Matt from last season sing "Tell Her About It." Ho hum.

Ohio's own Crystal Bowersox. Does anyone expect her not to go through? Safe-a-rooney.

Michael Lynche. Another no-brainer, but we drag it out and revisit Kara's weeping last night. Safe.

Lacey Brown. Safe.

Aaron Kelly. Safe.

Alex Lambert and Andrew Garcia together. Not an Alex fan but this feels as if Andrew is done. Once more, the "peaked too soon" question arises re Andrew, with Simon thinking so. But Andrew is safe, Alex done.

After the break, Alex is still onstage. Ryan says it was very intense during the break.

Down to Lilly Scott and Katie Stevens. I would much prefer to see Katie go of those two but can't be sure because the teen-girl vote has been so strong for her. And it saves her. Lilly is out. And stunned. "I don't know what America wants to hear," she says. But sometimes it's more about what they want to see than what they want to hear.

Crystal is in tears as Lilly does her sing-off. Show runs long, too.

Well, plenty for tomorrow's "Idol Chatter" video with me and Malcolm X Abram.

Next week: songs of the Rolling Stones. I anticipate that they will include songs by other people that the Stones covered.
