Bob Hope Movie Collection to DVD

By admin Published: October 12, 2010

This is good news for Hope fans, especially if the DVDs do live up to the promise of "stunning high-definition transfers." Even when these movies have been available before, there were customer complaints about the technical quality of some releases. And casual fans should note that "The Lemon Drop Kid" introduced the song "Silver Bells," which became a holiday perennial as well as part of Hope's standard repertoire.

The official word:

For over 70 years, Bob Hope’s name has been synonymous with laughter. Now Shout! Factory cordially invites you to sit back and celebrate the legendary comedic career of Bob Hope with
The Bob Hope Collection, available on December 7.

The Bob Hope Collection is a 3-DVD box set of five of Bob Hope's best-loved and best-selling movies, completely remastered from brand-new, stunning high-definition transfers. The films include Road to Rio (1947), Road to Bali (1952), The Lemon Drop Kid (1951), My Favorite Brunette (1947), and The Seven Little Foys (1955). In addition to Hope, stars appearing in these films include Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour, James Cagney, Marilyn Maxwell, William Frawley, Peter Lorre, and Milly Vitale. SRP $34.93

Additionally, “The Lemon Drop Kid” will be released as a single disc DVD on October 19 from Shout! Factory.
