Tonight's episode of "Bones" is noteworthy for what happens and what Fox is doing within it.
As for what happens, this telecast finally gets viewers to the Booth/Brennan wedding -- with more than one line that seems a meta acknowledgment that the show should have done this long ago. The keeping apart of the two has been noticeably strained this season, and even tonight's episode stretches things a bit; there's a tricky murder to solve, and the Jeffersonian staff has to work at keeping Brennan from getting involved in the case instead of preparing for her wedding day; and there's another bump along the way.
But I still liked the episode because I am invested in the characters and, even in the middle of grisly cases, the mystery is often less interesting than watching the people interact. That's certainly the case tonight, including in the return of some familiar faces from previous shows. And don't miss the vows.
Fox, meanwhile, is using tonight's episode to build more interest in "Almost Human," the fantasy series premiering Nov. 4. Here's what the network has in mind:
Step into the fun and futuristic world of ALMOST HUMAN with an extended first look at the upcoming series during the all-new “The Woman in White” episode of BONES airing tonight (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The exclusive first look will air at approximately 8:25 PM ET/PT. The adrenaline-fueled ride of ALMOST HUMAN begins when the thrilling drama premieres Monday, Nov. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
This extended first look at ALMOST HUMAN also will run simultaneously across all of FOX’s digital and social media platforms, including Hulu, the FOX Now App, FOX.com/AlmostHuman, the official ALMOST HUMAN Facebook page (Facebook.com/AlmostHumanFOX), Twitter (@AlmostHumanFOX) and FOX affiliate websites.
Since the show is coming to Mondays, Fox is certainly hoping to get the Monday "Bones" audience to accept this as a new option. "Bones," meanwhile, will have one more Monday telecast, on Oct. 27, before moving to Fridays effective Nov. 8.
